Complete Guide to Algorand xGov: How to Participate and Use the Portal
Governance and xGov Programs
Algorand Community Governance consists of two distinct programs: Governance and xGov. While anyone holding ALGO can participate in Governance, xGov has specific qualification criteria currently being developed after the Alpha phase.
Understanding xGov Participation
To become an xGov during the pilot, Governors' rewards from Governance were automatically deposited into the xGov Term Pool, determining their xGov Voting Power. Each Term Pool locks for 12 months during the xGov Term.
Term Pool Unlocking Schedule:
- Term Pool 1: June 30, 2024 (Payout: July 5, 2024)
- Term Pool 2: September 30, 2024 (Payout: October 7, 2024)
- Term Pool 3: December 31, 2024 (Payout: October 7, 2024)
- Term Pool 4: March 31, 2025 (Payout: October 7, 2024)
Key xGov Responsibilities
- Mandatory Voting: Participate in every voting session to maintain status and avoid forfeiting Term Pool shares
- Due Diligence: Review proposals on the GitHub xGov Proposals Repository
- Active Participation: Engage in discussions on GitHub and Algorand forum
